Corruption in the government:
I propose that General elections be funded by taxes. The amounts would be small. Equal amounts would be given to the 5 different parties that received the most votes in the primaries. The amounts would be $25,000 for each House candidate, $75,000 for each Senate candidate, and $2,000,000 for each Presidential candidate. In the primaries each house candidate may spend no more than $10,000 of personal or party money, Senate candidates may spend no more than $15,000 of personal or party money, and Presidential candidates may spend no more than $200,000 of personal or party money. All media would be required to spend an equal amount of air time or print space or for each non paid mention of candidates. At no time may an elected or appointed official receive any money, materials, compensation or favors. At no time may a party or candidate receive any money from any business or corporation. This type of campaign expenditures combined with a consumer tax would save Americans over 500 billion dollars annually that are now purchased by corporations through campaign contributions to receive tax breaks and subsidies.
