Dan Warren Libertarian For Congress 4th District California
What is the responsibility of a Congressman?
The responsibility of our Federal Government is to provide an surrounding in which an individual can succeed or fail, depending entirely on the merit of their own effort, free of corruption or government intervention.
There is a lot that can be read into that statement but if you take it for face value you will find that in very few words it answers a lot of questions. It enforces the original principles that our country was founded on. The freedom and liberties that are so vital for its continuation but that are threatened by our own apathy and ever increasing government.
Ronald Regan once said:
"The Governments view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases If it moves, Tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it If it stops moving, subsidize it."
Sounds funny but the general perception is that these statements are true.
So what has happened to America?
Thomas Jefferson once said: "A patriot must always be ready to defend his country against his government." You can defend your country by voting for a Libertarian. If you wait too long voting will not be an option.
Think about it.

This is your opportunity to stop wasting your Vote!!! I am the only candidate who is willing to end all corporate subsidies. I am the only candidate who is willing to close military bases on foreign soil and end the terrorism against Americans. I am the only candidate that is willing to try to keep almost $400,000,000 in our district and not send it to Washington. I am the only candidate with a viable plan to stop corruption in our Federal Government I am the only candidate with a viable plan to end the war on illegal workers. I am the only candidate that thinks that freedom is more important than increasing the size of the government.

Environment: www.discover.com/issues/feb-06/features/energizer/ This article about the ideas of Amory Lovins is a great energy plan for the United States. For years now America has fallen into a culture of consumption brought on buy the federal government keeping fuel prices low. This because of the powerful lobby efforts of American auto makers and oil companies. We keep consuming and the oil companies keep making record profits that are subsidized to the tune of 5 billion dollars anualy with your tax money. We don’t want to have laws tell us where we can drive, when we can drive, and what kind of vehicle we can drive. We would rather have a market free of government interference allow us to make those choices. We, as a team can prevent this kind of government intervention as well as save our environment at the same time.
Alternative energy?
If we let gas be sold at its true market value companies that can make alternative energy will have incentive without subsidies. Currently most alternative energy is not viable because it is so much cheaper for consumers to purchase subsidized petroleum products. Again the federal government is painting Americans into a corner. The best progress in alternative energies are going to come from private industry. Check out BioConversion Technology company to see how to succeed without government subsidies. Also check out the article about Amory Lovins to find out why government subsidies have caused us to fall behind in the alternative energy market.
Energy and Economic program for the 4th district: The 4th district is lucky enough to contain land that has one of the great geothermal www.geothermal.marin.org/ energy producing potentials in the United States. When I am elected I will allow non envoronmentaly sensitive National Forrest Lands in the 4th district to be leased to private companies that would bring economic wealth through the production of clean, renewable, geothermal electricity. The 4th district also has substantial wind power potential in most counties as well as solar potential on the east side of the district. The national forest have suffered from years of bad forest harvest managment and are full of biomass making wild fires a serious problem. Allowing private companies to start up co-generation and trigeneration energy plants and promising them a long term supply of biomass we can clean up the forests, reduce the fire danger, and provide much needed economic wealth to our rural counties. We can make the 4 district free of the need to purchase electricity produced by natural gas powered plants. We can increase the economic wealth of the 4th district by providing good paying jobs in the geothermal industry. As Congressman I will also press our other Government leaders to release and develop Sonoluninescence technology and ask why the government has kept such energy potential from public use. Read the article on the Slashdot web site for more information. www.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sonoluminescence www.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bubble_fusion www.science.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=06/07/24/214214&from=rss
My personal energy commintment: I have made a personal commintment to reduce my petroleum consumption. During the month of May I participated in the Bike commute month program logging over 500 commute miles and commuting on my bike everyday that I worked. I annually commute on my bike over 4,000 miles a year. I average about 14 therms of natural gas a month, costing about $20 in my area. My electric bill averages about 230 KWH $30 per month. I mention these facts because before I would ask anyone else to change I think that I should make the changes as well. Facts: . It has been estimated that 75% of domestic trips are unnecessary. Annual miles driven per family: 1983 11,739 2001 21,187 Total trips: 1983 1486 2001 2171 Average trip distance: 1983 7.90 miles 2001 9.87 miles Average trip to work: 1983 8.55 miles 2001 12.08 miles Average house size: 1970 1,200 sqft 2001 2,412 sqft Are you a team player?
